So I have the ENTIRE wiring harness out of my car and I would like to replace as much of it strand by strand as I can. I have search the 'Net for hours for the printed stuff (Fuel, Ign.,etc.) but unless I want literally miles of it in bulk or an overprice generic loom I cannot seem to find it by the foot/meter. I also would like to find the crimpers and terminal pins for the Bosch plug ends we have. If someone has a source please, do tell.

Lots of high-quality stuff here, but less so the wire and older style terminals...
http://www.corsa-technic.com/index.php
More likely useful for wiring loom resources.
This guy has more of the older style stuff, but with a motorcycle focus:
http://www.cycleterminal.com/index.html
But he also has excellent reference pages on how to crimp properly, remove connectors etc... and excellent service, been very happy with him. Plus tools. Do note the minimum order $5.
When you say "Bosch plug ends" - what do you mean? The EFI-like connectors? I found those the other day on Newark or Allied or similar... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Vaughn, sorry for the bad terminology I meant Bosch as a general term for the many and varied connector ends on the car. Most end in little pins but some are standards brass female ends. Im fairly competent with wiring, just dont have the special crimpers or new pins yet. As for the wire, since I obviously cannot get the Porsche colour coded stuff I was looking for a company that could custom print or at least have most of the common labels like fuel pump, alternator etc.
I found alot of good NOS parts in the past but nothing like the complete new main harness that was in my old car. I credit it with giving me 2 years of 100% worry free driving pleasure. Since the odds of finding another NOS harness are nil I'm going to plow ahead with as much new wire & connectors as I can possibly find.
Thanks for the great leads guys, we should make this a sticky. I genuinely think if more people did the wiring as a 1st car mod there wohld be more happy owners and far less dead cars.

Excellent add, Brian, thanks! Actually I need to buy some wire for my racecar, some light stuff to wire up some sensors, and wanted to buy something more than the typical white, red, black, blue, yellow, and green that seems to be most of what can be found locally. I use wire labels, but that's not ideal, and they don't last forever...
I'll sticky this, good suggestion... maybe with a rename of the thread title... _________________ Vaughan Scott

Since this hasn't been updated in a while, and since I have found that it can be a bit hard to find quality auto electrical supplies, I thought I'd add 2 sources that I've found to be really useful that you may not know about:
https://theelectricaldepot.com/
Based in the States, they actually carry genuine Tyco/Bosch relays. They only cost a bit more, and they are the best quality. Also I found a nice compact fuse block here which is really useful for adding a few circuits.
https://www.vehiclewiringproducts.co.uk/
This place has more cable than any other place I've run across, and you can get it all by the meter. Every color combo under the sun. And they have modern thinwall cable with much higher quality insulation than the OE stuff on our cars. They have some great mounting solutions for fuses and relays, in particular a 4-relay housing that is quite compact. _________________ 1981 924 Weissach Ed #187

This is important as our cars wires are at the age of crack and burn the car to the ground.
Remember that If You catch fire due to electrical problems only way to get it down is to disconnect the battery. Other way It will burn and burn and You won't get the fire down.
First of all:
front lights loom especially near fliped light where the loom is like S prone to crack.
in my car I have observed cracks near front radiator Fan - hight temp and so on around, cracks showed so it should be replaced imediatelly.
also starter cables watch for those, as those can crack and make fire too.
There is a problem with this looms as If you take of the isolation those cooper wires are black inside so there is much oxidation under the isolation. Something that is uncommon in 80' cars from japan but in VAGs of that era is rather standard. |

Do you guys think this cover will work for NLA cover that is supposed to protect the connector on the wiper motor? Mine has sucomend to dry rot. It looks like the medium might just do the trick? |

Was just browsing through a parts site and was utterly shocked to see what looks like a new connector just as used on the 931 S2 DITC ECU!!! With pins!!
