|

What are you using for a fuel pump on your carbed engine. I lost the info and am lost. Car has been garaged for 7 years and we are trying to get the carbs fed.
I have a fuel pump in the engine compartment but I need a pump at the fuel tank. Tell me what you use.
Better yet describe your set up from the entrance of the fuel in the carbs to the gas tank. Having done the carbs in 1982 and three different mechs. on it I lost the thought. I have a fuel pump in the engine compartment but my carb guy says you need one pump at the rear near the gas tank.
Thanks for your help

| Yeah I had two DCOE 40s on my 77. As a bonus it mounts in the stock location and you can use the fuel return line to feed the carbs. |

| second on the facet. for webers you need like 3 to 4 pounds. They have several different pumps. on my super 90 I am running dual dellortos (similiar to webers) and am upgrading to electric so I just bought part no. 41-2010-8 as it was recommended and "puts-out" in that range. It was like $70 bucks from an Amazon vendor called V dubstore. fast shipping. |

Electric fuel pumps are "pushers" and your carb guy is correct in that it needs to be mounted near the tank as opposed to mechanical pumps which are "suckers' and are mounted on the engine. If the pump in your engine compartment is a high quality pump you can simply relocate it, however if it needs replacement I would go with, (providing you're not racing the car), a Holley Red as it will flow more than enough at 7psi for your needs and has a built in cleanable filter so you can place another fuel filter after the pump...the pumps like that better. I would also mount a quality fuel pressure regulator and fuel pressure gauge near the carbs since you may need make some adjustments so that you don't overwhelm the needles and seats in the carbs. _________________ '95 BMW 318i/5 ..."Pearl"

I'm looking for one as well. Mine currently uses the stock fuel pump and surprisingly works (If you don't mind gas pouring into your engine bay). I brought a FPR with me when I picked it up and drove it 80 miles home but the fuel pump make bad noises when I turn the key on so I don't think this is an ideal set-up.
I used a carter pump similar to the one nick mentioned earlier for the weber in my truck (2.2L). Never had a problem with it (almost 3 years so far), so I'll probably try another one mounted by the tank. _________________ 1978 924 -parts car

The car is now running and sounds good. I only drove it a half mile and stopped as the muffler is shot and very loud
The fuel pump was relocated to the rear near the gas tank. I have a problem....which one do I drive now? My choice is ...........the 931 for its handling and the engine. The 911 is a great car and I will be making an announcement soon regarding this car.
