Hi guys, I found the following link about moving the bumpers inward. (the us ones). http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=8635&sid=ae5b7c4ca588ca4366ffd3d370904abc

However it doesnt really give a process for this. I also looked in the How to section and didn't find anything useful.

For those that have moved the bumpers in on their cars, how did you do it? Do you have to drill the bumper shocks? Is there a plug you can remove to add or remove the liquid? Just looking for a heads up on this.

Anyone?

remove bumper
remove shocks
drill hole in shocks and let the liquid out
weld them up when pushed in.

some people drill two holes and put a bolt through

I have a set that lost compression I was keeping to sell if someone is interested. You could mount them up and push them into dim you like then mark them for cross drilling or welding . $20 +12 shipping in US .
Or if someone gives me the dim hole CL to mounting flange I can weld them at that dim ship them ready to bolt on for $20 extra.

Also am considering making a few sets a few sets of flush Bumper pad delete bumpers and puttting them up for sale since I have about 3 sets of bumpers + two 924 rear ones.

Mad, those look pretty nice. I'll probably do it when I get a chance. They would look even better without the plastic "buck teeth", I wonder if there's a way to replace them with something easier easier o look at.

just to add that drilling should be done from the side of the shock
I tried doing it from the back(flat bottom) and drilled for hours without getting through.

and put protective goggles as the oil is under pressure in there.
You don't want oil splashing in your eyes.

I'd actually be interested if someone could make a bracket to replace the struts to bring the weight down as these units are big and heavy for nothing once drilled.

What is the dimension you ended up at? Center of vertical bumper bolt to back of flange?

How much would you pay for a set ?

If some one has pictures of what they did to bring the bumpers inward that would be great.

Although i am also looking at doing a mount to try. Thinking of doing something similar to what I have seen done with 911's of the era. and that is 3/4" angle iron. But that won't cut the weight down too much.

And keep your mouth shut too, bumper shock oil doesn't taste very good. Ask me how I know.

I will have this on hand while it lasts for thse of you who do the bumper shift and something goes bad afterward.

I mocked up the shift on my 85.5 944 pushing in the blown shock I have and it looked like the edge of the bumper would be very close to the vertical surface teh mounts attach to. I actually couldnt push the stock shock in anymore and it seemed like some that I see are in further. It looked like the mounts would only be projecting about 2" or so.
