So, I'm being gifted this running and driving 1981 924NA, and it comes with three relays pulled from somewhere. I've been deployed for the last several months, and have had my non-car savvy wife trying to get this figured out for me. I'll be home in a few days and she's made zero progress in the last six weeks, so I want to have these parts at least identified and waiting for me to replace when I get there.
All I know is that the power driver's window doesn't work and the headlights pop up but don't illuminate.
First relay is a small silver one with SR9819 written on it and four blades on the bottom.
Second relay is slightly larger, black, three blades and 111 953 227D. My research says that should be the turn signal/horn relay.
Third is again slightly larger, black, five blades, with part number 111 955 531 on it. Research says that's the wiper relay.
Am I on the right track? Is the first relay the power window relay? Am I getting myself into an electrical nightmare?
Thanks in advance for any help. It is greatly appreciated. _________________ 1981 Porsche 924 NA |

Relays are as follows:
1st relay: Horn relay (141.951.253B) SR9819
2nd relay: Turn signal flasher relay 111 953 227D
3rd relay: Intermittent wiper relay 111 955 531
Approximate locations are given here in this image of the Porsche 924 L4-1983cc 2.0L SOHC (1982) Fuse/Relay Panel
under driver's side dash. See also Relay and Fuse Locations for the additional Fuse/Relay Board
First, examine the relays for scorching and clean the grounds well. If you need information on ground locations or how to test circuits just ask -- there's lots of talented and knowledgeable people on the 924 Board.
The important wiring grounds: * under dash near fuse/relay board
* near the ignition coil
* near each of the headlights
* near left rear light
(and of course the negative battery terminal) Get the Porsche 924 Hanes Manual which has wiring diagrams for your model and is essential for keeping your 924 maintained. |

Thanks for the info. This leads me to believe its a ground issue. I got a picture of the relays, and none of the terminals are scorched and they all look really nice to be honest. I'll just start cleaning all those ground locations when I get home. _________________ 1981 Porsche 924 NA |
