I know these cars aren't really fast anyway but I'm unsure whether mine is even making anywhere near the 125bhp it should be (5spd Euro model). It just doesn't seem to accelerate as fast as I'd expect it to for a light car with "reasonable" power.

I don't want to wreck my drivetrain by doing 0-60s and I don't want to pay for a dyno so the best way to confirm is a comparative test.

I am doing 30-60mph in 3rd gear in about 7 seconds. Can some other folks with 125hp 5-speeds let me know what sort of numbers they can manage for 30-60 in third (so I can judge whether my car needs a tune up)?

Check your spark, ignition timing, distributor with the mechanical and vacuum with a full pull test, vacuum lines and leaks (especially to the dizzy), valve adjustments, flow rates of your injectors, compression, and your converter to make sure it's not clogged. I doubt it a clogged air filter, but yea check that too.

One other thing,.. check your throttle body opening. I had to adjust my gas peddle today because it wasn't opening all the way, will help lots on the highway

Or you could try to find some of the cars shown in the following clip and race them. If you win them, like the white 924 does in the film, you're OK

As an approximate comparison, in this graph from the 924 Owner's Manual '79 with a 125 hp engine but with pollution control and almost entirely in second gear, the acceleration curve interpolates to roughly 6 seconds from 30 mph (48 kph) to 60 mph (97 kph).

1979 924 NA 5-Speed-Transmission Curve

So, if you are turning 7 seconds in 3rd gear, even without pollution control, it appears to me, your 924 is doing very well.
