I have a 77.5 924 in pristine condition with low miles. The hatch sticks and the left side won't stay latched. Drives me nutz - I can close the hatch firmly, and pull on it hard, and shake the car, and bounce it up and down - and it stays latched. Drive it down the road and within minutes I'm smelling exhaust and feeling a draft on my neck. I've tried adjusting the pins over and over again. Nada. The latch pins and catch inside the body are not worn. I'm ready to bungee the thing!
Any help is appreciated greatly. _________________ 1977.5 924

Keep adjusting them and try replacing the bushings in the latches themselves.
Mine would do that and I had to adjust the latches on the body and adjust the length of the pins several times to get it to work and stay latched. _________________ Stefan

Where would bushings be in the latches? I don't see any way to adjust the latch mechanism itself. _________________ 1977.5 924

Loosen the mounting nuts under the seals and you can adjust the latches.
There are rubber bushings in the center of the latches that the pins sit in when latched, these tend to fall apart and cause rattling, etc. there are delrin replacements on the market that seem to help. _________________ Stefan

Have a friend help you by opening and closing the hatch. You lay inside and look to see the part that slides on the peg. Do both sides. You will have to adjust often til it latches properly. Lay on you back with a flash light to see the latches. It will take time but can be done. It is the only way.
Loosen the black clamping on both sides and loosely tighten until you get it to open. Patience works. _________________ 77 1/2 track car
