Replacing my original power steering rack with a rebuild rack. The steering wheel in the centered, original position (split in the clamp) doesn't line up with the flat spot of the steering shaft of the new rebuild rack. This might not be a big deal since I can still realign the steering wheel but could this have any impact on the turn light switch jumping back in the neutral position after everything is said and done?

I thought about opening up the new rack to realign the steering shaft to match the position of the original rack.

Any suggestions? Thanks,

Remove the plastic screw that covers the inspection port and make sure the rack is centered. If not walk the tie rod ends.

The rack is the centered position - the steering shaft flat is just in a different position compared to the original rack. Can I simply reposition the the steering wheel and don't worry about it?

Absolutely, no issue; however if the the car doesn't drive straight with the rack and wheel centered, adjust the tie rod ends instead of the wheel.

Turn signal cancellation spars are on the wheel. If you are sure the rack is centered (centering tool installed), just remove and realign the wheel.

Thanks! I was worried about the turn signal cancellation and really considered to open up the new rack to reposition the steering shaft. Glad I don't have to do this. Thanks again, guys.
