I have a 79 924 with a starting problem. Sometimes it starts sometimes is won't. Right now it won't. First time it happened I found one of the vacuum lines off. Connected it up and started right up. Well I replaced all the vacuum lines and it started great. Now no start. I pulled one of the spark plugs and I could smell fresh gas from it. So I'm thinking no spark. My question is what is the "Switch unit" and what does it do? Thanks for the help.

My 77 was doing that, turned out to be a bad transistorized ignition. I bought a used MSD 6A of Craig's list and never had that problem again.

Well, to make the story short it started last Saturday. Don't know why it just did. So I let it run to warm up. Turned it off and went about my business for that day. Jumped in it later and it started again and again on Sunday. I'm still recovering from where I was beating my head against the garage door.
