I'm not that much into Volvo cars, but some of their engines are interesting. I have a boat with a B30, straigt six engine. A Volvo engine that is very interesting and quite rare is the B36 V8. It was meant to be put in cars, but was only used in trucks in the 1950's and 60's. Used as a marine engine in the 60's also.
Here is one, dressed as a marine engine. They were usually red.

Volvo V40 was far and away, hands down, bar none, the WORST car I ever owned. What a collasal POS.
Burned out so many headlights (dozens) that we don't call a car going the other way with a headlight burnt out a "padiddle" any more. Its a "Volvo". |

My ex-gf had a Vovlo 740. She passed it down to her sister with 280k plus miles. Her sister drove it for several years after that. _________________ 81 924 N/A

I have a 1998 S70 as my daily driver, 220,XXX and not a single problem. The 5 cylinder engines are bulletproof for the 850's and S70/V70. Also came with a turbo model and an all-wheel-drive model as well. Ford bought Volvo in the early 2000's, that's when the reliability went down when they starting using the Taurus chassis. _________________ White 1987 Porsche 924S manual |

The only good ford owned Volvo I've had was an '01 S80 base model. Talk about a nice car, even at 210k on the clock. _________________ 81 924 Weissach Celebration Edition (just traded) |

If I dumped most of my Porsches, I think I'd end up buying one of these.
I think they look awesome! _________________ 1977 Porsche 924 - sold

82/83/84/94 volvos, 3 sitting out back of the house with cheesey bodies but each with an engine well into the 200's and waiting for something to transplant into. All are the 2.3 family, NA, EFI, EFI/turbo. 1 that died kept my family, some friends and me alive in a standing still rear ender hit at ??KPH by a car stolen during a drug store robbery and driven by a 1/2 wayhouse tenant who pulled a sawed off shotgun at TOO many people. Only injuries: 1 shocked toe in rear courtesy light socket and T5 vertibae break in my neck. Insurance quit at 8500$ of damage to the rear of car yet my wife went back to get our suitcases and opened all 4 drs as well as the trunk. Anyone know how to put the turbo into a 924 if my engine dies?? _________________ oldcarman-77 porsche 924 and one of the ugliest motorhomes on earth. |
