You know you spent way too much money putting the thing back together that it is worth. Could have bought a pair of decent used Miata's for the same money. But there she sits.
I am happy to report that my 79NA is running great and is being prep'd for paint. Over the last two years I have replaced:
Shocks, tie rods, front arms, ball joints, suspension bushings, fuel pumps, injectors, tires, clutch assy, rebuild trans, new carpets, new seats, new dash and more.
Another week and it gets new paint, then I will put the windows back in and do all the trim. When it was running several years ago it was just so much fun I couldn't let it go. Besides a 70 911S and a Lotus Europa, this car is the most fun I have had in ages, it really has grown on me. I've had 3 914 2.0 over the years and this is a much nicer car.
There were several threads about daily drivers, I originally got this car for my son while he was in school, it was his daily driver for 2 years. Ran great, only issue was a leaking radiator hose and the 1st gear syncro of course (fixed now, yipee). I taught him a lot as we did the initial service on the car when we purchased it.
I think you gravitate to what you grew up with. I like a basic sports car, the BMW dial would drive me insane.
So after paint, I will post pix of the finished product. Thanks to everyone who has been so patient and helpful as I sorted out this restoration project.
Regards,
