Ok Eric thanks! Will it make any difference that the car is lowered as low as possible? I have an airdam but I could remove it. _________________ Dal Glassinger |

Remove it.
If not get a long block of wood and put it under the front wheels just before the spoiler comes to the trailer.
Careful now. _________________ "Never let them see you sweat"

Thanks for the replies!!....uhaul claims the dolly is designed to accomodate lowered cars and airdam/spoilers. But I asked here because you are not trying to rent me one. ......like they are! _________________ Dal Glassinger |

I used to use one with mine until I lowered it, and then it hit the center pivot bolt of the dolly on the sump over bumps . I guess it depends on the design of the dolly. _________________ Andrew

My car is lowered and I have used a tow dolly many times without issue.
I've also been able to get my roommates' 951 on a tow dolly. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Do y'all remove the halfshafts from the transaxle, or do anything special when you tow on a dolly? I'm pulling home an '82 931 parts car this weekend, and I don't want to mess up the transaxle or anything, especially since the trans is the main reason I bought the car. _________________ Dan.

If the tranny is what you want, you'll need to remove the half shafts anyhow.
That said, I have used a tow dolly many times without disconnecting anything. Just double check that you have the car in neutral and don't try backing up. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

Thanks guys. I was trying to avoid rolling around in the mud in the seller's yard while taking them loose, but I think I'll bite the bullet and yank them out. I'd be seriously pissed at myself if I messed up the trans. _________________ Dan.

OK, we've been over this before, if the car is in neutral and your pulling it, how can that be any harder on the gearbox than DRIVING the car????
Leave 'em attached and deal with it when you get home. You're not going to hurt anything. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Pull it a short way to a parking lot, throw down a couple sheets of cardboard, and then remove the shafts. You stay out of the mud, and your tranny is OK. _________________ Mark
