Ive had my 924 for about 6 months. Ive tinkered here and there over the winter inbetween snowstorms. Tomorrow is the CA smog test day. (yes im getting the pre-test first.) car is now out of non-op and went for the first real drive today. SWEET- it was everything I thought it would be. Im so hoping she passes.... Ive replaced alt, new injectors, new in tank and external fuel pump, replaced pass door handle, replaced missing/ burnt bulbs in dash, installed new ground cables-straps. Cleaned up interior, fixed broken pass side bumper pad, new seat covers, waterproofed battery tray area. new smog pump belt, alt belt. New battery All in all only spent about 500 bucks. Ive changed the oil 2 times in the last 6 months and just changed oil again today. CLEAN oil a must for ca smog. Im hoping the stock catalytic converter is still good. Anyway- I will let you know how it goes, thanks again for providing so much quality information on these wonderful cars........ Things left to do... needs new tires, fresh paint, and a smaller diameter steering wheel. Getting in and out with the stock wheel sucks, im 6'1 and cant stand the wheel hitting my leg/thigh when i get in/out my only serious gripe! and im a thin 170lbs _________________ 1979 924 N/A Not Fast, but a BLAST to drive. |

I hear ya about the steering wheel. I'm 6'4" and it's always bugged me. I plan on a period correct momo with a hub extension.
Good luck! _________________ '80 924 M471,Wideband O2, Full coilover susp,23/19 sways,Bilstiens,KLA Strut Brace,Roll Bar,Test Pipe,BBS RS, Willwood BBK

Does clean oil make that much of a difference to emissions tests? I've been battling to get mine to pass an IM240 - either NOx is over or CO is over - and am going to put a cat on next. But an oil change is another easy change.
