Pierburg fuel pump should work. You're talking about the inline pump right? I've got one for sale if you end up needing one. _________________ 1980 924 NA

Look for a pump that fits the 2.0 fuel injected VW wesfalia campers or the 83 v6 Jaguar. Both pump the same cfm and psi as what we need. I havge found both work but you need to cut the wire harness to accept male plugs or eyelets. I can get the VW pump for 160.00. _________________ 77 924

I purchased one from the USA on eBay.
Really cheap and haven't had any problems. _________________ Tom

| I honestly cant remember but I'll climb under her tomorrow as she's up on blocks at the moment,to check it out, mine is the turbo model so i remember the internal one was $187 or there abouts, but the external one was supplied by the bloke i bought the car off and it was in the boot in a box but i reckon i've thrown the box out, PELICAN parts in the US has been great for me and they have pumps in the $200 bracket plus about $30 postage, will get back to you tomorrow with the part name, I assume the non turbo pump is the same |

Ok I have the new external fuel pump, is there any way of bench testing it before I crawl under the car and put it in ,like resistence figures etc, just incase it is a dud ?
Also when you put a new fuel filter in I understand that you pour fuel through it before you put it in so that the initial surge of pressured fuel doesnt "blow' internal filter pieces off they will then lodge further down the system. Do you pre fill, soak, pour through any fuel in the external fuel pump ?

| Alan, In my situation, I had to replace both pumps as mine is a turbo with an internal pump as well, i just installed them and also left the old fuel filter hooked up in case of any crap, i also fitted a new relay as the car had been idle for 6/7 years, flushed the tank out when i removed internal pump, then she fired up after a few cranks, I didn't do anything else like pouring fuel through, etc,or test ,you should hear it pumping when you put ignition on,thats how i tested , I'm going to fit a new fuel filter shortly as well as i might even remove internal pump again as it has a filter on its intake side which might have picked some debris so i'm gonna clean it as a precaution, that's all, cheers |
