The stereo head unit in my 88 924s hasn't worked since I purchased. So i'm going to go pick something up. How are the factory speakers in this vehicle? I wonder if I ought to replace them at the same time but having never heard them yet...
How do you wire up that center dash speaker anyway??
And, if I opt to just pay for installation is there anything "tricky" on these cars I might want to know or make known to the installer? Are the rear speakers pretty straight-forward to access and reinstall?
Thanks for any info!

If your vehicle has the factory speakers you should replace them. If they are not broken and rotted around the disc then they will be soon. Rear speakers can only be removed after the rear interior quarter trim has been removed. This requires removal of the glass. How to wire the middle speaker depends on what type of system you want to run. If it was me I would just hide two small tweeters in there.

does a 924S use the dash centre speaker? i thought they'd only have speakers in the doors and rear 1/4 panels like 944's?

dvalmont136, 4x6 Alpine SPS-406 speakers fit nicely in the doors. you'll need 944S2 grills to fit over them though. yo can fit them fine in the rear 1/4's but most people try to go larger back there.

I don't think so. None of mine did. They however had the spot for one since it is integral to the dash design.
