How do you manage your resouces (time and money)... for me my thought process would go like this... 'Where do I need to spend my precious time and need to spend the dough...?
NAs are cheap and plentiful and the 6-8 hrs or so needed to replace the clutch (if you were doing the work yourself or $1100-$1500 IF you can find a shop willing to do it) on the NA could be better spent on the 931. Bearings you can do yourself its easy peasy if you decide to keep the NA.
Me I would junk the NA and sell the parts to finance getting the rarer and more fun 931 up and running. _________________ 1980 Turbo

I would personally do whatever I could to keep it alive, but it's all going to fall on what you can spend. I have no idea whether or not you work on this yourself or if you have a mechanic do it, but all these things should preferably be done without using services!
A new clutch will run you a little over $400, but if you want to take it someplace (and if they are giving you the correct estimate) it will be about $1200 to throw the clutch in.
Wheel bearings and tune-up should be fairly easy. So if I were you, I'd even see who on the board is from your location, and get together and work on her!
However if you don't support the funds to keep her alive, then get the money for the 931 and stick to it. _________________ 1979 Porsche 924- Snailshell

This thread is so pointless that it defies reason.
Why would you part out a car that needs a clutch? Or wheel bearings?
Why not just sell her? |

It's salvage? So what is necessarily wrong with it? Anything with the body, or anything you can notice? My 79 is a salvage, but everything looks new on it. _________________ 1979 Porsche 924- Snailshell
