I guess that's what it's called. When trying to close the door there is a resistance to keep it from swinging freely.
The driver side has never worked. The passenger side made a horrible grinding sound last night and now the door swings free.
I haven't seen any info on this item but if it's repairable I'd like to fix it.
I can't recall seeing it in Haynes.
On a positive note it looks as though my British Columbia vintage collector plates for this car will be issued shortly. They rejected my first application but sent me a marked photo of the items they wanted fixed. All done and resubmitted and now we wait ! _________________ '78 924 NA with Collector plate

These things break so easily! In some cases the sheet metal of the door actually tears, and replacing them can be fun 'cause there's always the chance of dropping fasteners inside the door. When mine break, I just ignore them. One on my 944 snapped when an irate girlfriend slammed the PS door in -35C weather. _________________ '84 944 - kid blew motor
