What is the recommended method and materials for removing pine sap from the the exterior without scratching or marring the paint? I've read lots of different suggestions (Skin So Soft, WD-40 etc )but am not convinced they are absolutely safe to use, any ideas?

Try Paint Thinner or Mineral Spirits - won't harm your paint. See if you can find that stuff women use to clean their fingernails (nail polish?) - this works, too.

light duty citrus cleaner and a plastic razor blade. park the car in the sun for a bit first, put some of the citrus cleaner on a rag and then gently work the sap with the plastic scraper. itll usually pop off in chunks...

Andre... I think you were thinking of Nail polish REMOVER or acetone and use use it sparingly until the area is smooth to the touch.

I usually use nail polish to touch up deep dings which go to the metal when I don't have touch up paint.

A clay bar from a good automotive paint shop is probably your best bet.

RM's 9OO or wax and grease remover AFTER you have Hot soap and water cleaned. Chamois will not scratch with soap and water and then for 900 a non scratching paper towel. Allow the 900 to sit for awhile. (few minutes.)

I use rubbing alcohol and a cotton ball or paper towel, then hit with a bit of polish, works every time.
