Reading old mail and came across a post by Dreangts regarding languages and stolen cars.
I speak 5 and the oddest is Arbereshe which is very old Albanian. I am very fluent in it since it is the first language I spoke. It is spoken in Italy by about 80K people. It is dying as the infuence of Italian and other languages thought negates using it.
It is very old and if I had to speak to a modern day Albanian I would have a hard time understanding them. Modern albanian changed due to the Moslems invasion of the late 1400s.
I did speak to a Albanian linguistics teacher and he said I speak the old language Arbereshe as if Shakespeare spoke to an American today.

So does anyone speak an odd language? .

Indian / I used to speak it. See in between when i was young splitting
my time in between my parents working and with friends It was like
being taken by wolfs during the day & returned
by indians during the night. So I learned from them both ..

The indians spoke 2 me as I learned to hang with them during
the day & not so much with the wolfs. They didnt speak to much bout numbers like the wolfs did..

Ahh good memories. That kind of stuff is still is done, I dont know. I speak 4 of them by the way.

Took French and Latin in boarding school. Tried to forget as much as possible. My French has turned into rotten Franglais, and my Latin can be summed up thusly: Quantum ille canis est in fenestra? That's rotten usage as well.

What I did get out of my studies was a view to how English evolved and was/is influenced by other languages.

You know mon on a serious note i wish i could say irish
though no thats not it.

A handle of words and could learn to understand and converse,
Id have tio say Hungarian. Yup thats the ship i floated in on.
Used to fish from it as a kid as i had a close friend whos family was
the same . He had 3 bros and a sister. They were into all sorts of cool
hobbies and stuff. Our families were friends. I used to ride my bicycle over to his house it was a big accomplishment.
