Its up on stands & lookin good..
I like these wheels. ( going to polish them).
Tires have some tread left, There Dunlop
205 60 r 15s Nice wheels there nice complete
with crests.
Oil cooler looks good too, needs some tlc.
Front of the Turbo. What can I say looks exciting.
The turbo itself. I like it.
The hot end of the turbo. Looks OK.. Gues I should start by applying
loosening lube.
Im pulling off the susp. today Itll all
go on my NA.
Id like to see the 931 become a nice yellow non-turbo with
those polished spiders. Like a used to have. The 931
grill isnt to bad louvers are not bent just the lower lip of
it is. Well Im gonna go wrench. _________________ 1979 porsche 924 Na

So your plan in a nutshell, if I understand it correctly:
You're going to take a slightly rare vehicle (that needs a lot of work admittedly) and strip it of the valuable parts, leaving an empty shell.
Now. you're going to put those valuable parts on a relatively worthless version of the same car.
Along the way, you'll have to deal with various wiring and other minor changes, including the body work needed to fit the nose panel.
Then you're going to take the less desirable parts from the formerly worthless chassis that now has the valuable parts and put them on the slightly rare, but stripped chassis?
That really seems like a lot of work to end up with a gray 924 NA with a VIN and emissions stickers that show the wrong information, which might cause problems for you at the emissions check.
Either way, that's a way to make sure neither car is worth anything more than their sum total of the parts involved.
I'm not slamming your cars, I know they are worth something to you and that is all that matters at the end of the day, but what you're essentially doing is stripping the moral equivalent of a 6-pack GTX to build a slant six equipped Coronet with a 6-pack drivetrain and a 6-pack GTX with a slant six.
Why not just keep the Turbo the way it is and preserve its value as what it is. What happens if someone buys one of the cars down the road and finds the vins don't match up to what is actually on the cars?
Either way, good luck with it all. You're going to have a lot of work ahead of you to get them both running again. _________________ Stefan

Yea I see the 931 becoming a NA itll be yellow with the polished spiders.
Thats not the project right now. Its the NA to gt racer conversion. Ill pop the vins if I have 2 & switch them. The first thing to switch( Ill be using that word switch& add alot.) Is some front suspension pioeces. Im degreasing them now. Also a few better pics of the 931.
There greasy peices like reeses peanutbutter ice cream.

You do and you could go to jail. It is illegal to swap vins. Just ask some of the Cali Hot Rodders or some of the Honda drag racers about vin swapping. _________________ Stefan

Personally I'd put my money, time and effort in rebuilding the turbo, and not in yellow!!
You will end up with two bastard cars worth less than a single 924 na

You guys are making quite the deal about him swapping in the turbo.. From the looks of the 931, it would take many more dollars than what its worth to bring it back to the condition Joe's 924 n/a is currently in.
Joe, I wouldn't switch the VINs. I have never had to have a car admissions tested, but I doubt they would check to make sure the numbers match on your 27 year old car. If it runs well enough to pass emissions, my guess is you'll be fine. _________________ [This Space For Rent] |

Actually fiat22turbo I thought the Blazers gettin it handed to 'em last nite
was tubular, like a lamb baste.
Im builden the KILl er switch, no not 2 for the price of one, though you could consrtue it as a double porsche smoothie.. with a touch of sunshine.
This motor here had a heavy port and polish job on it, a webber big bore TB, Schnieder racing cam, total seal rings stock rods & euro pistons, header and and a msd red box unit, it was a step up from the daily driver.
