I ran into some problems installing a new fuel filter in my 1982 924NA

The bottom coupling leaked from the lowermost fitting and I need to remove the filter and start over. I'm not sure what the fittings look like or which one to turn first to make a seal. Right now the lower fittings are very tight - but the filter turns and I can unscrew the filter from the fuel line fittings below.

Topside looks OK except that I crimped the line between the filter and fuel distributor. I need to replace the high pressure line. Any recommendations on the fittings or fuel line are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance
- Peter

Filter assembly is made up of the filter itself with top and bottom adapters that screw in with copper washers to seal.

The hoses then attach to the adapters with cone/taper seal (no washer required).

So what happened I guess is when you loosened off the lower hose the adapter came loose in the filter.

I also crimped that fuel line by the way and it has been fine for years.

All my fitting problems were resolved when I purchases a Porsche gas filter from Pelican Parts. Although it cost a bit more it was worth it. It's an exact match and comes with compatible brass fittings at each end. Start with this for filter replacement. Don't go with after market - threads were not compatible with old brass fittings.
