Hey guys !!! Its been a long time. Anyway Ive been searching for a 924/944 project car for a little a came across a 77 Martini edition on ebay. I was always a big fan of this car and would like to know a ltle more about it.
The seller is asking $1,200 for it. It does not run the head gasket is blown, the interior is shot (once re-carpeted black) and the stripes were taken off.
Is it worthwhile going across the state of PA to get this or is the Martini more common then I think it is ? _________________ 1987 Porsche 944

The Martini was a marketing product.
Nothing special, just a specific collection of interior and exterior features.
Run running, ugly and broken, it isn't worth any more, than any other broken down 924.
I would not pay $1200 for any early 924 in the condition you describe. |

Does sound steep - mine cost 450gbp but the seller originally wanted 750gbp for it although it would fire up.
Biggest problem i've had with mine is rust - but for a long-term project i'm still happy working on it.
Try and beat the price down. _________________ 1977 martini 924

the martini edition has a certain cool factor, but with no added performance, and not in original condition, one would be much better off spending less to get a 924 in much better shape, and creating reproduction Martini... I looked at the one on ebay right now, , and id be hard pressed to pay $200 for it, never mind $1200... they have effectively removed anything "martini" about it..save the plaque... so imo that plaque is selling for $1200, seems allot for a plaque.. _________________ Eric

There was a very very nice example in Scottsdale a while back, pretty much in restored (but not quite concourse) condition. Something like that would be worth going after, but the guy was asking $6K from what I recall. For what the car is, it just seems like too much money. I agree with 924guy, you'd be better off finding a good clean non-martini example to start with and converting it. Unless you're really into the concourse thing, and absolutely must have the real deal. Then maybe that $6K candidate in AZ would be worth trying to find again. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

I have a Martini and love the thing. Everyone is right though, performance wise it's about the lowest on the pole but man I love the look. There are places out there you can get the stripes remade. The interior would be tough though.
Good Luck!

I just need to comment that 13K USD is the price range in denmark for a std 924 in nice, but by no means perfect condition. If I had access to that car I would buy it yesterday... _________________ 1980 924NA ROW |
