So yesterday with the summer winding down here in Ottawa, my girl friend and I finally decided to meet up with the local PCA chapter and go on their monthly morning drive, they call it a coffee run because you need lots of coffee.
We met up with the group at 7:00am or so and there were already close to 15 cars, mostly newer Cayman's, Boxsters and 996, I think a 991 was there too. Also had some 1980's 911's a 928 and Me! When the whole group arrived there were close to 20 cars for the procession through the twisties, which is what these coffee runs are all about.
I made sure that we were in the middle of the group, to make sure that I wouldn't loose sight of anyone and get lost. I needn't have worried as I was able to keep up easily and the 924 did us all proud. It was the oldest car in the pack, and still generated looks and interest. It always brings a smile to my face when I can get in a group with all these newer Porsches and still have people ask questions about it and give the thumbs up. I was told that there is a bit of a gas smell when accelerating, so we need to reduce the timing a smidge as it is running rich, but nothing that will hurt it.
All in all a good three and a half hour run with some great people and great cars. If October weather is nice, we will go again. And as soon as I find pictures and video, one of the Boxsters ahead of me shot some video of the car) I will post it up here.
