So... took my car outside today to let her see the sun and run outside in the fine weather.
After it ran a bit I let her sit and bask in all her glory. So in the mean time my son comes home and a friend comes over for a visit. We are sitting around and they decide to ride out riding lawn tractor/mower.
So... can you guess what is coming? It is an old mower and the parking brake no longer works. My son parks the mower up the driveway from my car and jumps off to talk to our visitors whom are on a bike of his.
Before I can do anything the 300 plus pound mower is racing towards the back of my 924. I let out a yell and only get there in time to slightly slow it with one arm and it caves in the rear quarter of my pride and joy!
All I can do is walk over and sit down. I am not one of those nuts who would value his car over his sons life so I did not kill him. I just had to sit....
I guess I just needed some time to take a breath...
UG!!!!!! Just when I thought things could not get worse. _________________ 1982 924

Sorry to hear, that is a shame, try to remain calm, I'm sure I wouldn't.
Now for the important question, is the riding lawnmower OK? _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

Yeah I wrecked the front pass fender of my Fathers 300E but felt terrible about it for some time. I was 17 at the time and could feel remorse much better than my 10 year old does. He was off and running not 20 minutes later.
Ah what a good dad I am for not killing him on the spot.
Ah hell lucky for me the 20 plus year old lawn tractor only had some nice mocha swartz paint on it. DOU!!!!
Just did not need this. Been laid off for 6 months now with out two pennies to rub together. The 924 was the last santuary...
Ah well... such is life I guess. As my Father said to be... I can see you are as upset about it as I am just get it fixed. So... some day when I have money again... it will be made right.
Just needed some support.
I did laugh about the comment about the lawn mowers condition. _________________ 1982 924

Thanks
Man if they only made the quarter panels out of the same material as the front of the lawn tractor. Only paint from my car on the tractor and no dent. UG. _________________ 1982 924

Try to make a claim on your insurance for being struck by an underage uninsured driver
But seriously, things will work themselves out in the long run, pretty soon you'll have more than 2 pennies to rub together and you'll fix it up like it never happened. Don't let it get you down too much, focus on something positive, like the fact that you have a child to dent your car, not everyone is that lucky. _________________ 1987 951 - M193 Version for Japan |

this could be your excuse to upgrade the body/paint. I have read so many stories in car mags that start out with "my car was pretty much totaled" or "I had a big accident". And then those people get carried away with fixing them and after its all done, usually a couple years, there car is nuts and in magazines.
It sounds like the damage isnt as bad as those stories but it might be good in the end..... who knows.... biggest thing is not to get discouraged. when I ever break stuff I think that it can always be fixed, and maybe made better.
good luck fixing her, cant wait to see the pics of the new shiney fender!! _________________ '80 924 M471,Wideband O2, Full coilover susp,23/19 sways,Bilstiens,KLA Strut Brace,Roll Bar,Test Pipe,BBS RS, Willwood BBK

In Grade 3 I carved the name of my mom's car into the trunk. In Grade 12 I backed her Jeep into a telephone pole (in open field with girl).
This year alone my 944 has been vandalized twice, hit by an idiot trying to park (an idiot who ran away), and I backed it into my mom's Town Car. No damage that time. Not too long ago our resident 7-year-old threw a rock without thinking and left a big gouge in the 944's rear quarter. Right after I'd straightened and painted the valance on my wife's 924 she hit a parking stop and trashed the valance and a fender. What goes around, I guess...
More importantly, my grandfather suffered an injury that left him in very rough shape and we had to move him into a home over Christmas. Won't bore you with the details, but things like that make dents and scratches seem like what they are. My mom didn't kill me. I didn't kill Mand's kid. Somebody's gotta be there to help when it's your turn to go into a home. _________________ '84 944 - kid blew motor

Yeah I guess I am quite lucky. I tell myself that a lot. Love the kids even when they send a speeding lawn tractor into the side of my car.
The only thing about getting my car into a magazine is that I have already spend $2250 on the paint and body work just a couple of years ago and it is (my car) in a book recently released.
Also I had just finally put in the PORSCHE decal across the back. ... AH hell I did a poor job of putting it on anyway... trying to look at the bright side
Thanks again everyone. Got some good laughs... maybe now I can sleep.
Heck... he did not write wov u dad on it ... well not yet. _________________ 1982 924

Sounds horrifying, but I can't believe it can't be fixed, what with all the parts cars in your sig. This is what rattle-can spray paint is for, just make sure you match color etc. My sympathies. _________________ 1977.5 924 "Martini" head / New Old Stock rebuild
