How many 924 owners would be keen to replace the POS plastic part with a direct replacement reliable aluminium or brass one if they were available at reasonable cost?

All depends on what 'reasonable cost' is. I'm interested, but I've also considered just lathing one out myself.

I'd be down for one, especially since everything is out, brand new, and easy to replace now. |

I'd go for two (just incase) but like everyone else; as long as they aren't crazy $$$. Last one i bought was about $2us at a repair shop in Mayland. _________________ Rick

Considered ally or brass too and I`m not fussed either way either. Only ally is cheaper and easier to machine.
Figured "reasonable" is <$20 since this is a 924 part and is $16 at Pelican for the plastic one or probably a bit more at the dealer.

Yea, me too Min.
If you are interested in making some I am happy to buy one from you. We both know that realistically to make one from start to finish will involve many hours work, measuring, design, sourcing materials, tools, set up, turning, drilling, deburring, cleaning, testing, etc..... So personally dont wish to make more than one for myself. If there is much demand it may be worth having a machine shop do a manual run of 10 or 20. With economies of scale it may also be worthwhile having a CNC shop spit out say a minimum run of 50-100. Obviously then the price per unit will fall dramatically.
Hope you all can see where I`m coming from. This is why I am trying to gauge the interest and demand before I waste much time or money.

If i had access to a lathe, i would have made one of these ages ago.
I honestly cant see it taking that much time. just drill two holes in a bit of square rod, and then turn one side off for the inlet.
it doesn't have to be pretty, or look exactly like the plastic one, just functional. at least, thats how i see it, _________________ 1978 924 N/A

I think making a good part would take more than a few minutes of thought, and a little more work than one might think.
Brass would not be good because vibration would crack it.
O-ring seals on each end would be required to seal, since you can't duplicate the locking rings on the plastic part. Viton seals would be best, and that means grooving the oil delivery tube end internally, and grooves on the exposed end on the cylinder head side.
O-rings would also allow the elimination of metal to metal contact, and frictional wear of the parts in contact, to give the part a long life. |

Essentially agree with your comments gohim.
As far as availability goes the dealer DIDNT say they were not available, but he may not have bothered to check either. At the time enquired about numerous parts and the reply was that there is a weeks delay as some had to come from Germany, but the elbow was not specifically mentioned. I know many people in different countries seem to be unable to get them, as Tiny mentioned.

Two for me please, If it will fit tightly and not leak.
I guess more swedish 924 owners will order at the same time since this part isnt even available from Porsche.
How will you make them, or will a workshop make them for you ? _________________ 1980 924 Turbo

These are NA, according to PCNA. Pelican also reports a goose egg. _________________ Toofah King Bad

At that kind of price, put me down for 4 of them.

Yep, definately not trival. And testing could get messy. Especially if something fails.
