I wondered if there's anything I can/should put on the foam spoiler on my 931. It's looking kind of porous back there. I wouldn't want it to start falling apart in big foamy chunks at the mach three speeds I'll no doubt be reaching.
I also need to replace the door/fender mouldings along both sides -- the only pieces of bad trim on the car at this point. I saw a Porsche set somewhere for $160 which seems a little silly. But other places sell something like it for pennies ($20 or so). Just wondered if there's a better source _________________ 1980 931 w/88K, decorating a field for 3 yrs. |

Porous is pretty much normal at this point for the spoilers and mirror surrounds. I give mine a dousing of Ardex Speedy-somethingorother every now and then, and that leaves those parts looking good for a while.
Look here (sorry, but my pics there are gone now) - http://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=11119 _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

| Here's a thought, I had a blemish on the top of my rear seat, that looked pretty nasty. I replaced my windshield using the new urathane windshield sealant, U-871. It's black and thought what the heck, I used a putty knife and covered the blemish with the stuff, after it dried, about 1/2 hour, I checked it out and looked pretty good and also was flexing with the seat. It's now been six months and it still flexes and hasn't even thought of coming loose, so this might be an option for the spoiler. I think you should be able to get the stuff, I do know it's about 10.00 a tube. I don't know where the parts guy gets it, but could ask him on Monday. |

A good product to temporarily improve the looks is Mothers Back to Black. As with Smoothies product it requires reapplication about once a year.
