I have a very nice white 1980 931 with 54K miles and when I purchased it last year it came with all of its history and extra parts it was very well cared for and kept track of. However in the warranty & maintanence manual there is no option code and vin # sticker and the same sticker that is supposed to be stuck to the chasiss under the rear hatch carpet is not there nor have they ever been. Were the individual dealers supposed to do this before they sold the car or were these placed at the factory for each car as it came off the assembly line? Im very curious as I have not seen any 944 or 924 withou these and when there missing its been torn off the car or the manuals have been taken from the glovebox and never to return again.
Just thought maybe someone knew? Thanks _________________ 968 turbo S replica Excellence Magazine 04/09

Option codes might be in the spare tire well, but I'd assume you looked there already. VIN may be stamped into a section of the firewall that's visible looking in and back through the NACA duct (or obviously, more easily with the hood opened) or it could be stamped into the metal at top of one of the shock towers (right side, I believe). In addition to those direct-to-body-metal stampings, there might've been a plate attached in the cowl area next to the fuel filter (for LHD cars) that includes the VIN. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. are you looking under the hatch carpet, or under the carpet trim between the taillights? my option code sticker was there, right behind the jack... _________________ Eric
