I didn't know that some VWs also have a 3 bolt triangle flange turbo. Any chance that this will fit the 924 turbo?

I don't think so. The main issue is it is a diesel turbo, not petrol. Diesel units are not normally made to withstand the exhaust temps petrol engines generate. Also, the trim will be way off, as TD engines rarely rev beyound 4500 rpm, and deliver peak torque at about 2500 rpm.
