New to water cooled Pcars, own 6 other carburated early air cooled. Story goes like this Mon/Tues morning started but only ran for 5 or 6 seconds. Restart was ok. Coming home from work Tues noticed gas behind right rear on concrete - bad fuel accumulator - replaced but now will not start. Got fuel pressure, got spark, spins over but will not start. Can smell plenty of raw gas at tailpipe. Any and all help would be appreciated. Sorry my first post is a question but I just found this board yesterday looking for answers. This car became my daily driver about 6 months ago, runs great and outhandles any of my other cars, supposedly it was put together by Brumos, its painted white with red and blue stripes, lowered put about 4,000 miles on it since i bought it. Only had 72,000 miles on it when i got it. forgot to add its an 80 931

Hey - welcome to the water. All we ask is that you keep your suit on.

I'm thinking that if it was running ok before and nothing else has changed or was touched before/after changing the accumulator you might just have some air in the fuel system. Tried holding the pedal to the floor while cranking? -That will clear air from the lines quicker if it's there.

NICE, I saw that car on Collectorcartrader.com! Special Brumos/Peter Gregg edition, right?

Post some pics and more details, people around here will love that thing!

Must have been air in the lines or what seemed like a flooded condition - anyway we are back on the road, also discovered the previous owner installed the fuel filter backwards I'll try to post some pics, it is a nice looking car and these handle awesome.

The arrow on the fuel filter on a US 931 should point at the driver.

If it is on backwards (arrow pointing to the front of the car), do not turn it around, replace it.

In my own defense, the one I removed was also backwards. . .

One of the hardest problems I ever solved on a 931 was due the fuel filter being on backwards. The reverse pressure evidently caused it to fail internally and the cage intermittently plugged the fuel line to the motor.

It would run fine, then shut down suddenly. It would always restart and run fine until it clogged again.

If you shake a 931 filter and it rattles, throw it as far as you can....

Hmm, should I light it first?

Same things happen with a faulty ignition switch. Cheap fix about $40
