Ok, I (finally) got my new alternator mounting bushings in. They're the old rubber kind, but at least they aren't decomposed. I put them in last night, remounted the alternator, and the pulley's still way out of allignment. the alternator is definitely mounted more "stiffly", but the pulley is just either too far in or too far out depending on which spacers I use. Do I have any other options, or should I just machine a spacer to make it work? (I work at a machine shop, so that's feasable..) I don't know if I'm just missing something, or what, but I sure want my car to run again.
Thanks. _________________ 1978 924

| Are you willing the factory spacer with the sleeve that goes through the middle of the rubber bushing? |

yes, I put the factory metal sleeves and corresponding washers through the rubber. I got a new alternator a year or so ago from Performance Products (I think that was where) - is that my problem? I have a large washer with a keyway, a smaller but thicker spacer with a keyway, a lock washer, and a nut. My v-belt pulley is made of two pieces that pair together. Is that normal? If so, what order should they be in?
Thanks again for all your help. _________________ 1978 924
