So while vegetating in front of the TV I see the new commercial for the Buick Lucerne, a truly ugly car in every possible way. However, it does have one redeeming feature; heated washer fluid. Now this is different from the heated washer nozzles on my Jetta that only work to keep the nozzle unfrozen, this actually heats the fluid to a steamy level so it doesn't freeze on the windshield I assume. So this is where I get a brainstorm. On my junky Mercedes I take thin copper tubing and splice it into the ww line and wrap it around the upper radiator hose several times and then wrap the coils with exhaust wrap(fiberglass) to keep the heat in. after the fluid leaves the homemade heat exchanger it should be close to 180 deg. F. I don't see a downside yet. Unlike the Buick's electric heater this will be from engine heat which is at a minimum before you warm the engine but other than that, what do you think?

Heated washer nozzles were available as an option on 924 too, though in 1984-1985 cars. And very rare option, I have seen only two 924's with those. _________________ '83 924 2.6 16v Turbo, 470hp

All 3 of the 924S cars I've owned had heated washer nozzles, but they also had heated hatches and mirrors. _________________ White 87 924S "Ghost"

i'm not going to make another topic for this question..sorry for the intrusion.
Is there any way of patching the glass ?
Today i removed the black foil from the rear hatch on the 944S and realised the glass has some scratches on it _________________ Supercharger and EFI kits

Heated wiper fluid obviously isn't really necessary to deal with the ice. Wiper antifreeze-washer fluid takes care of the ice better than heated fluid could. Still, heated fluid would have some positive effect on ice removal. -But I think the main improvement you get from heated fluid is from its' cleaning action. Warm-hot fluid obviously will clean bugs and dirt off better than cold fluid and not just in cold weather, but all year long.
Sounds like a good idea if you don't mind the extra work.
While trying to make sense of why anyone would want to do it, I stumbled on this -

my winshield was frozen the other day and I used my winshield washer fluid / wipers and it just created more frost...... my winshield washer fluid was just freezing on the winshield.
I've never filled up the washer fluid , its not coloured and looks like soapy water so I think someone just put soapy water in there... _________________ 78 924 sold.
