Well my original muffler is looking pretty bad, holes in bottom. So I want to replace it, I want to get something that sounds better. So I think I want a Borla, I am not sure witch one, either the Borla turbo or the XR-1 anyone have either one of these, how do they sound. The Xr-1 says it’s the highest flowing muffler, it’s listed under race, so I am not sure, would it just sound like a straight pipe then? Has anyone had any experience with these? Thanks Heath _________________ 81 931

I have a Borla in my '80, that I bought from JC Whitney. 2.5 inch in and out. Stainless, guarenteed for a million miles. It sounds great. a little louder than stock, with a great rumble when you back off. But, right after I put it in, I started to get an afterfire when I shut the car off. I think it is from the very low back pressure design letting fresh air reach the hot cat, causing any unburned fuel to ignite. It doesn't happen all of the time, just once in a while. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

Huh well that sound pretty wild, ha-ha does it flame out the back?
Yeah I think I am going to get one also, think I am going to go with the turbo one, the other says it’s for race so it probably would just sound like a straight pipe, that’s the way it is now, sounds pretty good, but wouldn’t want it like that all the time. _________________ 81 931

I use a Borla 40944 3 to 3, center to center.
It sounded better than the Flowmaster it replaced. It is straight through.
It costs about 25 Hp over 500. _________________ 951 566/485 HP/TQ at the wheels - pump gas
