Week before last I took a couple of days off and headed up to a place called Port Stevens two hours drive north of Sydney for a bit of fishing with friends. Here's what it looked like:

Here's me hard at work:
First time I've actually seen a marlin go totally vertical:
This one got even more active when the trace was grabbed:
Releasing it:

Looks like it would be a blast! We don't get too many Marlin off the coast of Nova Scotia until late July. The rod and reel fishing reminds me of the commercial Bluefin Tuna fishing which has to be the ultimate rush....600lbs of pure muscle fighting you. I have seen an hour just to get one reeled to the side of the boat.
What kind of a fight do you get from a Marlin? |

The marlin were only small (60kg - 100kg) so the fight time was only about 15 to 30 minutes each. The tuna should be coming along here in about 3 months - should start excercising now.
Yeah, I couldn't see any beer either. Very strange. The boat was so small (21 feet in the old money) that there was no room to put any. Had to come in early each day and drink like crazy to catch up.
I'm the fat, ugly one in the shirt. Got a bit toasted the day before so I was giving the skin a bit of a break. _________________ 1979 924 (Gone to a better place)
