I'm going to head to the junk yard to get an extra distributor and and extra ignition control unit. I have a 1980 N/A. what years use the same ignition control unit and what years use the same distributor. Are there any other cars the use the same of either of those? any VWs?

The 1980 distributor is unique to the 1980 924.

The ignition module may be the same as some mid to late 70s era VW. The ignition brain box is a Porsche Part, no VW equivalent.
