What would it take...

To get a different porsche Speedo to work in the 94 or early 944.. say a 180MPH fromt he 928 or some such...

I Know you can always go the convetional aftermarket route.. but... what about using something from another porsche...

Thoughts comments... tried serach in forum found nothing....

One idea is to use disk rotors designed for the ABS and a sensor tied to that with a pulse converter. Clark was talking about that just a few days ago.

If you have one of the later 924 cars with a 85mph speedo, try getting the speedo from an early 924.

That way you still get the speedo drive from the front spindle and don't have to mess around with a electronic conversion.

My early 77 (02-76) 924 had a 160mph speedometer. The fastest sustained speed I ever had the car up to was about 125mph (indicated for more than 10-15 minutes) in the desert in the middle of the night (2-3am) on the way to Las Wages, going downhill (I chickened out, see next paragraph). Probably could have gone faster, but poor handling made that a stupid idea. The next night going home, on the same stretch of road (going uphill), the maximum indicated was around 121.

At speeds over 110mph that car started to get too light (no ground effects aids (front or rear spoilers) to keep the car on the ground), even with two people in the car. I could feel the car lifting on turns, and when running over bumps in the road.
