anybody know of a good way to remove underbody coatings? I'm trying to strip it off a fuel tank if that makes any difference.

Provided the tank is empty of fuel you might try a wire brush attached to a drill. If it's the original rubber type undercoating as on the rest of the under carriage the wire brush will work. If it's a cheap, imitation aftermarket product try brushing on varsol, gasoline or perhaps acetone. _________________ Doodle

A propane torch and putty knife works to get the bulk of it off. The smoke is a bit much, however. I suppose a heat gun might work instead of the torch.
Knotted wire cups work much better than straight ones. And cups on angle grinders even better. Still very, very messy and laborious.
That's why I'm going the dip route and getting rid of everything. |
