can anyone suggest a suitable donor for my (to be) gt replica?
I thought maybe a celica gt4 cooler might fit the bill, maybe a pulsar?
Can't afford the mega bucks of newly fabricated parts! |

Try a mazda rx7 series 4 unit.
I used to make them out of these - still do when I can get a good core in New Zealand. _________________ Remember a Porsche is not just for Christmas,

| I just finished installing a 951 intercooler on mine that works very well. There's room in the nose after a small amount of metal fabrication. Was also able to fabricate pipes and route in such a manner as not to displace the fuel distributor, headlight mechanism or require any hood modifications while keeping inlet/outlet runner lengths as short as possible. |

Fo those daring enough, I have several 944T intercooler mounts and intercoolers. Email me if your interested.
It has always been my plan to give it a try on my 931. But only after I'm done playing aroud with the factory IC. _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

Intercoolers are about 150 on ebay.
The mount would be the center section .
You would have to cut your old cross bar out and use this in its place.
Gives you a factory mount.
50 bucks for the cross bar and latch support section by itself.
When I cut them out of a car I leave the bumper mount points so you can use the front skin to graft to the frame rails.
Now you might have to buy the rubber stoppers and metal holders for the intercooler as by the time I get to the cars that stuff is gone.
Email if you need a pic of what one looks like _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net

I was hoping there was less to it than cutting up sheet metal to install it. I think I will pass for now, I don't want to cut the nose off of my car. I don't think I could get it back together correctly (well, this summer at any rate, and I really want to drive this thing!)
Thanks Anyway. |

Oh, it's going to get an intercooler, but I have an idea that may prove to be less work than cutting all that metal.
I'm thinking that I can:
1) Remove and discard the original air filter box, rerount the intake to the location of the washer bottle (remove and discard same, replace with small washer bag elsewhere) This will be like a cold air intake.
2) Replace original fan assembly with lower profile aftermarket assembly
3) Install intercooler behind radiator (yes, not as efficent as in front, but easier to do) in place of orignal filter assembly. I plan on using a n/a 924 intake plumbing assembly modified to fit.
I'll post keep others updated on the progress. |
