Paul,
The only thing 10 participants gets us is a $20 discount. If we go on a Fast Friday the track will be open regardless. $20 buck isn't going to stop me from a track day, and I think that if we all know in advance that there could be an additional charge if don't get 10 participants we can live with that.

Count me in for two cars at the event, and about 90% certain that both will be on the track, and both needing instruction. I may try to do some DE before coming out, but no guarantees on that. My eldest son and I are planning to make the trip, he in his S2 931, I in the 941. The SH4RK will also be available if anybody else in the Detroit area wants to convoy with us, and I might just have the Euro 931 ready by then too. _________________ erstwhile owner of just about every 924 variant ever made |

Another event that some of you might consider is the Great Plains Region DE at MAM on July 24th and 25th. For the novice contingent, there will be a PCA sponsored school that will be included in the price of the event.
There might even be a place where a couple of cars can be stored until the August get to gather.
Tom

Ok, I guess I could make the trip up. That means I need to get busy with the clutch replacement soon.
This needs to be opened up to the General Discussion. More the better! _________________ 1980 931 - Abused by PO "R.I.P"

I have a nice track close to me. They do a lot of testing on it all thru the week. Its called www.putnampark.com Its located about 40 miles west of Indianapolis, IN off Hwy 40. There are a few Hotels within 10 miles of the site right off Interstate 70. I have done a lot of motorcycle track days there. This track has a lot of runoff and only one turn has a guard rail per say. That is a fast right hander leading onto a the front straight. A very fun track!!!

If they run a true "fun run" style out there without forced instruction, I'll pay to drive the track. If I have to pay to pass some sort of course, not interested. I've raced at Gingerman and raced many many many parking lot events over the years, but never needed someone to tell me how to drive because I really don't push the envelope much. _________________ '80 924 Turbo - SOLD!

I have done a two day track drivers school and lots of track days and can tell you very little of the instruction is about the track and what lines to run.
The majority of instruction is about situation awareness and proper track etiquette. On the first day I was signed off to drive by myself. Those who display good car control and awareness will get signed off early so the instructors can have more time with those who don’t.
I wouldn’t think twice about hiring an instructor who has never driven the track.
This twofah meet sounds like a blast, unfortunately I wont be able to make it. _________________ "Government exists to protect us from each other. Where government has gone beyond its limits is in deciding to protect us from ourselves. "
