Oh, don't worry, we're still reading the updates!

Do you think you'll have any clearance problems with that alternator? Maybe now is the time to graft an aisin style alternator on there.

I had major clearance issues with the stock alternator location. I had to modify the original a/c alternator mount. I have the old alt. mounted in the location where the A/C compressor bracket would have mounted....

I will probably purchase a new alternator and check for that clearance. Do you see a problem with how I have it now? That is about where my old a/c compressor sat.?

Not sure on the ITB manifold.

The ITB bore is 45 mm and it is about 5 inches long

well imagine the gas coming out of lets say piston 2...hiting the pipe wall 90° to it...dont you think that the ideea is a bit rough? put some smoke trough an vacumecleaner and point directly at a wall or 90° to a inner pipe profile...the gas will go both ways left and right. So what i'm saying is that when piston eliminates gas maby half of it will go in the oposite direction of the turbo because none of the other cyls are eliminating gas at that moment....my guess is that an exhaust gallery like that would overheat and crack very fast...and would give poor performance.

Well I don't disagree. I was just curious as to what you saw. The manifold may not be of the greatest design, but honestly, the manifold and turbo are just temporary until I develop (and afford) an upgrade. Basically, it will be there to get the car on the road, I do not plan on heavy, high boost performance driving....

Agree with Morghen. That configuration will cause a lot of back pressure which will cause a loss of power, overheating and rough or no idle. If the outlet tubes were expanded ( / \ ) to allow flow both ways (except #1) the flow would be much better.

I agree that manifold design will flow pretty poorly. I went for a log manifold but used elbows to force the gas to flow towards the outlet checkitout:

What ever happened with this project? Didn't he sell all the engine parts and part the car?

Who ended up with the ITB set-up ?

IIRC, Pat traded the complete powerplant including ITBs with a VW guy out in Cali in exchange for an electric / battery conversion "kit".

I just remembered, the guy Pat traded his stuff to is Robert Mink, works at VW, has a profile here but doesn't come around much any more. His profile indicates he is in Orange County.
