reverse is a PITA to get into |
Reverse has no synchro on 924, this is somewhat standard behaviour I think. Unless it seems PITA beyond what would be justified by having no synchro then you don't need to chase that particular problem. |
So I have very limited manual experience, but my diesel mechanic friend with lots of manual experience (who I brought along to pick up Poppy from the PO) had to what appeared (from worriedly staring thru the passenger window because I was on chase the car down duty if things went sideways) like an angry slam over to the right and then another to go down into reverse after trying to get in normally. Now when trying to get into reverse its not as bad, still not great, but we can't tell if its because she needed loosened up from sitting and not going into reverse for so long or if it has something to do with her being a sloppy girl. _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

small update for the interior of Poppy
WE GOT NEW SEATS!!!!!!!!!!!!
Her current backseat is so crusty and deteriorated I wouldn't even call it a seat anymore and her fronts are decent but I sourced a set of '88 black seats with the leather trim and porsche stitching/pattern.
I have to change out the upper backseat latch hardware so the seat can click into place. But I won't have a rusted in place passenger seat anymore!! I think when the PO left a huge chunk of salty snow on both sides that was the beginning of the end for my seat rails...... but we're making progress!!
Has anyone had any luck with swapping out that backseat hardware by only removing the trunk half of the interior trim? I think that's my best plan of attack so I don't have to completely reglue around the windows _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

| I don’t remember having to remove anything difficult when I deleted the rear seat on mine. Maybe a few bits of carpet need pulled up. |

Did you have to fully remove the side trim pieces to remove the latch hardware? When I pulled the new-to-me backseat I also needed the driver interior trim so I fully took it off. I'm trying to not fully remove the passenger trim in Poppy because I don't want to have to reseal the windows or glue the trim to beneath the window if I don't have to.
I have these latches currently https://www.ebay.com/itm/364635095427 and I know I will mostly need to drill a hole for the new hardware which is essentially a long 17mm (if I remember what wrench we used correctly) bolt, large washer, and a rubber boot. I can't find a picture online of what that hardware looks like, but I'm assuming it was factory? _________________ Just trying my best to figure this out without total failure

| I didn't fully remove the latch hardware though - I just unscrewed the two screws from each of the latch things and removed them, leaving it at that. I think the moving parts are all in the seat back. |
