there isnt anyone with any realy dyno # 931, however the CGT came factory with 210 bhp, it has 8.5:1 cr, with a top mounter IC and 12 PSI of boost,
Kenodog and I have done some work to his car and once he has his IC installed and has cranked the boost then he plans on dynoing it. _________________ 3 928s, |

Well guys, I have been running 17 PSI of boost for years, and based on my calculations, I believe that I am running about 230HP. The car is still not a screamer, even at 2700 pounds, you need to get in the 400HP range to get real performance. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

I'm in that club also. Can't do any mods that increase the performance for another 8 months - my first insurance policy. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo RHD. 3" > 2.5" Stainless straight-through exhaust. |

| I think mine is the slowest......it just sits in wait for body parts/paint in my drive way. If I didn't mind driving a car that was primer gray, it'd be driven all the time. |

Yah, I am in the bodywork mode right now. I am in the middle of striping and painting the hood. But, I am still driving, because I bought a hood off of Ebay. So, I can take my time with it, while the one on the car is still presentable enough for daily driving. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

Well, I was told by the PO that mine makes a touch over 200hp -actually he quoted 205hp but let's not get too pedantic. I've never had it dyno'd so I can confirm in writing... but I have driven a bog-stock '80 Turbo (in good condition) and I can feel the power difference in mine.
Obviously numbbers has got it over me
It seems from various conversations here that these engines are not able to produce huge horsepower. But the PO of mine, a bloke definitely NOT prone to exaggeration, reckoned you could quite easily get 250 - 270hp from them?! Now, I'm no mechanic, and I'm certainly not taking what he said as Gospel. And I'm pretty sure they're never gonna get up in the 500hp range. But it doesn't seem to me that anyone posting here has actually tried getting one of these to make bulk horsepower. Engine swaps don't count.
A distinct lack of responses in this thread, for example... _________________ '80 924 Turbo |

I have a dyno day coming up in Nov. My time is limited but I am planning on varying a few things between pulls like boost, water spray on the IC and timing. I am expecting around 200 RWHP but a bit more will be great.
I'll try and remember to post results so we are working with facts rather than speculation. If nothing else, there will be a baseline. |

Come on team, if the factory could get 300+ hp out of the thing using old technology, then why cant we,
A new turbo relocated to the other side of the engine, new intak and exash systems, fully fuel injected, must yield some good horse power,
I belive we are all a bit defetest on the messege board and we can do anything if we have the time and the money!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! _________________ 1982 924 Race Car

Well, I would say the reason we can't get 300 HP out of a two liter, is because the factory has a whole lot more money than any of us. _________________ 1980 924 Turbo |

relocating the turbo would loose perfromance but gain in longevity.
knife edge the crank
dry sump
replace rods and pistons with customs
balance engine
seal off the head and add independant oiling and cooling
head studs
lighten the flywheel
custom intake and aftermarket EFI
951 turbo, ceramic coat, ball bearing
rework the wastegate and make adjustable
replace mechanical ignition dist
large intercooler
engine and car - remove weight , remove weight and remove weight
I think you can see 325 to 350 without too much effort.
220 from a 2 liter in 1980 was pretty impressive and with good economy
Toss the economy restriction out and use modern systems, the old engine (a bit heavy) should be more relaible after tweaking, than a modern equivalent _________________ Bob Dodd - 924turbo@cox.net
