|

Hello everyone! i haven't been posting much as my car has been going pretty good. however, i've just bought a full wiring loom, everything front and back and a new fusebox and was wondering if anyone thinks i'm mad?
I'm thinking about pulling all the old wiring out of the car and replacing it with a pre checked good quality loom. I hope this will solve all my electrical problems.
Any advice before i undertake this mammoth task?
Thanks! _________________ 1982 Porsche nine two four with Carrera GT conversion - people think i'm slow cos it's an X plate!!

I think that will take a long time, require a lot of time and it might be awhile before you finish.
If you think you need to....
Are your problems that bad?

Sounds ambitious. The only thing I can think to add is to replace the fuse-relay box while you're at it because some of the pins might be burnt and the rest partially oxidized. Plugging new wire connections into an old fusebox where some pins are burnt will mess up the corresponding pins on the new connection. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. well...started with a fusebox fire about a year ago which left most of the wires intact but slightly charred and melted, managed to make good of that but since then the fuel pump comes on with the ignition rather than while turning over, sometimes i have to give the fusebox a shake before the fuel pump comes on. The headlight motor is either burned out, burned the relay out or the wires that go from the fusebox to the headlamp motor burned out (they are melted at bothe the fusebox end and the headlight ends) and i have no horn.
I'm a great believer in fixing things before they are broken as well as after they are broken!. I just don't have any idea of the size of this task. I was thinking about taking a week off work to do it. _________________ 1982 Porsche nine two four with Carrera GT conversion - people think i'm slow cos it's an X plate!!

I got a brand new engine bay wiring harness from ebay when I was rebuilding my engine. Then Lizard installed it along with a new relay/fuse board. It took him a total of about 2 hours from start to finish.I also have a new dash harness that I haven't installed yet but it should take no time at all.And the rear harness is the easiest of all seeing as it only has to supply the fuel pump and the tail lights.Do yourself a huge favour though and don't cheap out on getting a new relay/fuse box.Inspection of mine once it was out made me wonder why I never had a fire.(Although I did have some major spark action once or twice!) _________________ 1979 Euro 931, Olive
