Hi all. I just got an oil separator for my 931 (series 1) after having gone through too many air filters and also disconnecting the breather hose (oil on the driveway instead...). Where does the return line go (the bottom one)?
Those who are familiar with the Carrera GT might also know where the hose that exits the oil separator goes on the GT? (it does not go in the Air filter box).
One more thing, my car does not have an oxygen sensor on the exhaust. Is this normal for euro models??? |

| please! can somebody look under the hood and see where the bottom line from the air-oil separator goes. The air oil separator is a cylindrical black plastic box with 3 thick hoses running from it. One goes into the crankcase, one goes into the air box (most 931s) and the third (bottom one) goes somewhere at the back of the engine.... |

I believe the third line goes to the oil pan. One to the air filter, one to the crankcase breather valve, and one to the top rear part of the oil pan. I believe that this hose returns the oil sucked up back to the oil pan.
I am away from my car until next weekend. If someone does not give you a more definite answer I will check and get back to you.

Thanks Peter, I think there is an extra plug above the oil drain plug so I presume that´s where it goes.

You are correct-sir. It goes to the rear of the oil pan just above and to the right of the oil drain hole.
Sorry you had to wait so long for an answer. This would have been the perfect assignment for me as I have no life and a 931 parked right outside - just hadn't looked at the forum in a while. You must have been frozen solid up there in Iceland waiting for an answer. I promise to check the postings more often. |

| Thanks, at first sight it seems my air filter will have a somewhat longer life this time. I am not so frozen in anymore, all the snow went away (no white x-mas this year), now it is about 10°C and awful rain.... |
