|
|
the intermitten wipers on my car havent worked since i first got it. High and low speeds work no problem at all (the two upper positions). But when i move the wiper lever to the intermiten position the wipers will run as if i put them in the low speed position, and when i move the switch back to the off position, they will continue to wipe two more times then shut off. Any ideas what the problem could be? _________________ 1987 Zermatt Silver Porsche 924S <-- Sold in Nov. '04

Sounds like it thinks you're trying to wash the windshield.
Does it work properly when you pull the lever towards you, that is, it fires the w/s washer pump and sweeps the wipers? |

yea, theh washer jets work fine. Will try and replace the relay, thanks for the help!
also, is it common for the washer jets to take a minute to actually start spraying water? It usually takes a a second or two from the time i pull on the lever. _________________ 1987 Zermatt Silver Porsche 924S <-- Sold in Nov. '04

There should be a check valve to keep the lines full of fluid. Pop the hood and look-see if it's working. If you can't tell, remove it and check it out - should be able to blow into one end, but not the other. Reinstall it with the end you can blow into toward the reservoir. Mine went bad. I replced it with one I got from a pet shop in aquarium supplies. _________________ "..it's made in Germany. You know the Germans always make good stuff."

Ok, i fixed the wiper switch finnaly, just where can i find the check valve? Im sorry, i feel stupid asking this but as you all know im sure i am not very mechaincally inclined. Is it a blue piece that is attached to the end of one of the two tubes going into the washer fluid? _________________ 1987 Zermatt Silver Porsche 924S <-- Sold in Nov. '04

Yeah thats it.
U can usually clean them with soapy water and a toothbrush. Check (use a pen or something) the valve first by pushing the ball bearing forwards(direction of water flow) and rinse it if the ball is free. Then U should be able to blow through it (forwards again) easily.
If its frucked then any new car dealer dealer should sell them for about $2.00 and are called one-way valves or as you said check valves. _________________ '79 924 supercharged, intercooled |
