Great effort! Congrats!
If we didn't have stories like this to keep us warm in the winter we probably wouldn't continue to race.

What a wonderful 'adventure' and a testament to true Brit grit!

So we now had to get the cars ready for the next 60 minute race in around 3 hours time.
Re adjust the tyre pressures, suspension settings as it had now stopped raining. Fuelled up both cars.

The white car had a very annoying fault on fast right hand corners where it would have no throttle response. The previous owners just drove through it but since the current owner had it this year we have been chasing the fault. We had changed fuel pump, brimmed it with fuel, found the non return valve on the breather fitted the wrong way round and had the fuel neck pipes replaced.
Sadly it still had this issue so whilst we had 5 mins on Friday we then turned our attention to the electrical system, inspecting the wiring from the battery to the starter and alternator.
Wire to the alternator was proper crispy and will need replacement.
And then we found that the wires from the lambda sensor had just been touching the exhaust and had rubbed through exposing the copper through the heat resistant outer.
Much joy was had. Quick repair and during race 1 it did not miss a beat. Woooooohooooo

All 3 cars get out to assembly area for race 2. A rolling start with some 50 cars and our boys are doing ok

After 15 mins or so the 944 reports over the radio that he is loosing gears and is pulling off.
We were gutted.

Both the 68's came in for the driver change and 1 min pit stop with no dramas reported.

With 11 mins to go red flags came out.
I walked up onto the pit wall to make sure both the cars were on the grid waiting for restart.
Found the white car and got a thumbs up from the driver, walked back down the pit wall expecting to see the yellow one at the rear.
No sign of him, and that's when we got word of it hitting the wall at Blacemont corner coming up to the Bus Stop. Driver was seen walking away.

The wait for the recovery truck is awful ,you always hope the car is being towed. Sadly this was not the case.
The roll cage had done it's job and saved the driver from major injury.

Ugh, that's so sad to see... glad the driver's OK...

Rough weekend, my sympathies...

+ 1 So sad. Particularly when it's a rare car.
