Hey im new to this board and im eyeing a non turbo 1981 924 thats on market place for 1600$. Rust free, paint and interior are really nice. Needs new fuel pump, fuel lines and a couple other things but other than that its a complete car. I really want to turn it into a rally car and I know it can be done since I've seen photo's of 924 rally cars however it seems most of the "Rally parts" like the suspension are only made for the 944. Is it possible to say just buy the gravel 944 rally coil overs and bolt them onto the 924 without any issues or would it require so many changes that it would just be better to either stick with stock and hope it holds up or find an alternative? On the same note I wanted to get recommendations for performance upgrades? Not really looking for top speed in this case since 120 mph is more than enough for me but anything to make the car feel more responsive, better handling, you know give it a little extra kick ect.

Are they for early 944 or late? Early is largely bolt-on - though you'd probably also want to graft in the 5-lug brakes if the car doesn't already have...

"Needs a fuel pump" is often code for CIS gummed up and needing a lot of work or relay not working. Either way, you'd probably be a lot happier with the car with a EFI conversion, be it morghen's kit or a more DIY approach (for almost the same cost)...

Otherwise for engine performance, kinda the typical stuff, from header and cam to higher compression/larger bore pistons and so on...

For rallye - whatever the 944 guys are doing!

It says there for Porsche 944 1983-1991 (994; 994 Turbo) / Porsche 924 S 1987-1988 / Porsche 968 1992-1995

Sorry, didn't check the link first...

Those aren't interchangeable fitments, but they've correctly noted the variances on their site as I see. So you see that they require you to fit the late rear trailing arms?

Also, the upper rear mounts pictured don't make sense to me - I'd enquire about that, see if maybe they're using a generic photo?

Yellowspeed is a very entry level brand for rally suspension and is not as durable as some of the other manufacturers. If you want something that is more middle of the road, and has good support, there are other brands such as Intrax, available from rally.build

I know Intrax has made some custom setups for odd rally cars that are successfully campaigned in North American Rally.

Also look at EXETC, Ohlins, and Reiger as other options. Though, they might not cater to custom setups.

For a while, you could get Bilstein inserts and build your own suspension with some effort. Check out Streetwise Motorsports for details on that. Some variation of that is what is in my rally car now.

To add a little, I've run Yellowspeed on stages (not in a 924, however) and was not super impressed.
