I'm replacing the coolant expansion tank so I'll be draining the system. I have a new water pump and v-belt as well which I'll install.
Any other jobs that I should do while the coolant is drained out of the system? _________________ George

Thermostat would seem like an obvious one, if you don't know when last replaced.
Could also consider having the rad itself cleaned, pressure tested... _________________ Vaughan Scott

If your heater controls don't work it could be an opportunity to replace/free up that valve.
And it's an opportunity in general to replace any hoses that are really suspect. |

Probably not a concern with 924NA but in my car I drained the system to install lower temp fan switch and new thermostat. _________________ 1981 Porsche 931 w/S1 engine & euro g31 transmission. Water-cooled intercooler |

+1 on having the radiator checked over and boiled out. You may want to have it rodded out, depending on what they find (not an automatic though: it could be pretty clear if coolant services were kept up on). Mine was half-blocked - not surprising given the level of neglect, and I doubt it would have cooled adequately. Also, like Raize said, least look over the hoses if you're uncertain on them: originals are definitely a liability, but you might not be able to replace them all. _________________ 1980 931 diamond in the rough |
