I'm replacing the coolant expansion tank so I'll be draining the system. I have a new water pump and v-belt as well which I'll install.

Any other jobs that I should do while the coolant is drained out of the system?

Thermostat would seem like an obvious one, if you don't know when last replaced.

Could also consider having the rad itself cleaned, pressure tested...

If your heater controls don't work it could be an opportunity to replace/free up that valve.

And it's an opportunity in general to replace any hoses that are really suspect.

Probably not a concern with 924NA but in my car I drained the system to install lower temp fan switch and new thermostat.

+1 on having the radiator checked over and boiled out. You may want to have it rodded out, depending on what they find (not an automatic though: it could be pretty clear if coolant services were kept up on). Mine was half-blocked - not surprising given the level of neglect, and I doubt it would have cooled adequately. Also, like Raize said, least look over the hoses if you're uncertain on them: originals are definitely a liability, but you might not be able to replace them all.
