I have a 1977 NA 924. I have the standard CD ignition that it came with. What benifits would the MSD unit provide? Will the unit hook up to the internal portions of the distributer, or would a competitors product work better.

Thank you

I got an MSD 6a in mine. I don't know how much better it is with the MSD, because my engine wasn't running before I put on the MSD and a dual Weber setup. Car is still not drivable yet though.....but soon.

The MSD definetly does what it says, when testing the spark and just cranking over, the spark goes like an arc welder!

You do need the tac adaptor so your tac can still function with the MSD though.

Hope that helps,

Hey Joe,

The MSD unit is behind the drivers headlight where the original CD unit usually is. If you are going to put one in, I would recomend placing it in the battery tray as there is about 45,000 volts traveling on the spark lead, and you want it as close to the distributer as possible so you don't get interfearance in your signal wires. I didn't get any pictures of the MSD taken, but here are some pictures of my car. It is up on jack stands (still in the middle of changing the clutch etc), so the front wheels are hanging down.
