hey guys, ive had my '77 924 for about a year now. i have been having issues getting it road worthy. i found this cable which is unplugged from something, and i havent gotten any good answers for what it may belong to. i have had multiple people tell me that it plugs into the fuel distributor (which it already is) but the cable that is plugged into the fuel distributor joins up with two other wires, one of which is the one that is unplugged. any help in the right direction would be awesome. 2 of the 3 wires are all plugged in and in the right spots, except for the third one. this is my first car and the first car i have ever worked on

Your pic link isn't quite right. Could that be the oil pressure sender?

If it goes to the fuel distributor then it's the hot start solenoid.
So I guess the other end of that would plug into the hot start sensor in some way. That's an inline sensor on one of the coolant hoses at the back of the engine, with two male spade terminals coming out of it.
Do however note that this system has no effect on cold-starts or running, so don't worry about it too much. Well, unless it's permanently energised, then the car won't run at all. |
