I have a 1985 2.0 924 and have been having issues with starting the bloody thing. It has been sat for a few months now due to not living close to it, meaning I never get a good chance to spend a lot of time trying to diagnose issues.

Long story short, I have two fuel pump relays and neither make any sound or click when I jump the 30 and 87 terminal using my battery. Battery very new, is fully charged and working.

The reason I bought a new relay was due to the old one not making a sound when jumping (it previously DID make a sound a few months ago but an auto electrician has since opened it up and I suspected they had broken it).

My previous relay is a KAE 3.300.300 and I replaced it with a 92861511303 from Design911. Link here:

Am I going mad? Am I doing something wrong? Or are they really both just broken...

Check to make sure the electrical contacts in the socket are actually making contact with all pins on the relay.

Will do - though this test i have done completely separate to the car. So just a positive and negative from the battery to pins 30 and 87. It should activate the relay no? I'm 99.9% sure this is the exact test I did previously and I clearly heard and felt a click from the relay.

I misread your post. I thought you were using a jumper wire at the relay board in order to start the car.....but now I'm realizing that you are trying to test the relay.

There is some chatter on these threads that might be helpful.

Correct! Just testing the relay itself. That's a huge help thanks.
