Good hint Cedric. It seems the 0280158123 would fit nice for my application.

The only thing that bothers me is these injectors are for E85 only according to this document?

A quick google says its the Porsche turbo/gt2/gt2rs injectors, they work well with petrol aswell. But have stainless parts inside for handling ethanol and methanol.

Yeah, I just used long tip injectors in the stock location with adapters, much easier.

I used the Bosch 0 280 158 123 injector, from the 997 Turbo, it's 627cc.

0 280 155 892 is another smaller option if you prefer, 365cc from the Audi TT - probably a better choice for an NA EFI conversion.

Trimmed down a set of VW 058 133 555 injector inserts, taking the top flange off so they'd fit.

Been running this config for a few years now...

When I make an extra +2.7HP then you won't have to make the journey

I also suspect that the result of my journey might follow the law of diminishing return. Like a $1500 set of speakers vs $5000-50K

It is likely that Cedric's plan of attack is the best bang for the buck. Just a quick clean up port job (also pointed out by Gegge a long time ago)

The only thing I can see right now that would be the game changer is a proper intake that uses the full flow gain of the head

Believe it or not I have a serious problem sourcing the VW 058 133 555 inserts.
I mean I found ZERO in Poland, and getting them from other EU sources is around EUR 60-80 :-/

These WERE available in lots of flavours (stainless, bronze, OEM plastic), but no longer exist... Seems parts for VAG are dying much quicker than anyone expected haha.

BTW the EU sources name these part as VW Classic

I think I need to make use of my lathe...

Paid a visit to a local parts wholesaler and the guy there checked ALL of the available catalogs he has access to - stock is ZERO everywhere. This is awkward honestly, but maybe it's the way how modern motorisation works haha.

An evening in the garage with lathe and here we go...

I'm just curious if the tip of the injector is protruding enough?

Now I need to figure out the fuel rail. I have a billet extrusion that I can use, but still will need to fabricate some mounts that will need to mount to something.

Are there any areas on the head (injector side wall) that can be drilled and tapped safely?

Dan Beckett's design, which I'm using, just had legs that were captured by two of the intake bolts...

Just to reference Ideolas rail:

https://www.924board.org/viewtopic.php?t=29190&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0

Honestly I don’t like that type of mount. I’m sure it works fine, but I don’t like it I’ll try to sort out a nicer way to mount the rail.

I expect it would be safe to drill and tap those 10mm or so for the m6 bolt in the red areas here???

The green areas after tapping and using i.e. helicoil insert might be used as well for a bit of strength of an „A” shaped mount/legs (4 points). Same probably if I would just use two of the rocker cover bolts.

Here’s my rail extrusion:

And here the CPS will be mounted most probably:

Yeah, I shouldn't expect any issues tapping those spots for mounts.

I get your concerns with the Ideola rail mounting - doesn't seem ideal, structurally.

As for rail mounting, definitely give thought to getting the fitting to the end to supply fuel; I found hose routing to be a real pain in the front due to the location of the thermostat elbow... and equally at the back due to the distributor and boost sensing tube for the wastegate.

Currently mine's up front, but I want to try moving it back to the back, see if the clearance is any better there, now that I've ditched the dizzy.

I did some test fit today quickly.

It seems that best it’s with fuel supply at back and pressure regulator at front / side as above.

That way I can fit COP (Denso from Toyota Yaris I think) and I am even thinking about fabricating a small mount for them to attach to fuel rail.

And here’s with the 1.8T intake:

I’m thinking about having a new thread about building that fuel rail / COP setup for 931. Might be easier for smn in the future to find that stuff.
